Teaching Explanation

Ask the right questions

Can God heal? Has a particular person recovered? Was the report accurate? Can a minister promise the same result to everyone? These are related questions, but they are different. Belief in God’s power does not require accepting every public claim without examination. One false testimony must be corrected; it does not settle every question about answered prayer.

A minister serves; God remains the healer

In Acts 3, Peter refuses credit for the man’s restoration and directs the crowd to Jesus. Ministry is service under Christ’s authority, not ownership of an independent power to cure at will. Acts 4 shows believers asking God to act while they continue proclaiming His word. Confidence in prayer should therefore produce humility rather than celebrity or pressure to perform.

Let compassion shape the witness

The New Testament contains remarkable healings and accounts of faithful believers who remained ill. A church must hear both. It should welcome sincere questions, distinguish a reported experience from a verified claim and correct exaggeration. A person who remains unwell has not become less worthy of love. Visiting, listening and supporting a household belong to Christian witness alongside public prayer.

Practical Application

Review how your fellowship handles testimonies. Ask what is known, what is reported and what remains uncertain. Pray with compassion and offer practical care without promising an outcome Scripture has not guaranteed. Prayer should accompany appropriate healthcare, and nobody should be pressured to abandon treatment to demonstrate faith.
