Christian teaching about sexuality should combine reverence for God’s creation with respect for people. The subject deserves clear, responsible conversation rather than secrecy, shame or careless assumptions.

Teaching Explanation
Begin with creation and dignity
Genesis presents human beings as made in God’s image. Any discussion of sexuality must therefore begin with the worth of persons, not with treating a body as an object for someone else’s benefit. The body matters to God, and our choices should reflect care for ourselves and our neighbours.
Understand the covenant setting
The source chapter connects sexual intimacy with the one-flesh relationship of Genesis 2. Within the ministry’s Christian teaching, marriage gives intimacy a setting of faithful commitment and shared responsibility. Sexuality is not merely a private appetite detached from promises, consequences and the wellbeing of another person.
Join affection with responsibility
Scripture’s positive treatment of marital love challenges the assumption that the subject is inherently shameful. At the same time, speaking positively does not justify pressure or entitlement. Faithful love honours freely given consent, listens to boundaries and refuses manipulation. Marriage is not permission to disregard a spouse’s dignity or safety.
Teach so people can grow
A church should be able to explain its convictions with clarity and compassion. Silence can leave people dependent on misleading information; humiliation can make it harder to seek guidance. Responsible teaching distinguishes biblical conviction from cultural custom and leaves room for honest, age-appropriate questions. Those carrying a painful history need truth offered with mercy, not public exposure.
Practical Application
Consider whether your speech about sexuality honours the dignity of the people discussed. Replace gossip or crude humour with respectful language. In a trusted adult or pastoral setting, identify one question that needs clear biblical study. Let learning produce faithfulness, honesty and care rather than superiority toward others.
