Policy Commitment
Theos Transforming Ministries and Doruka Ministries are committed to protecting every child from abuse, exploitation, neglect, discrimination and avoidable harm. The child’s welfare and best interests must guide all ministry decisions.
Scope
This policy applies to leaders, staff, volunteers, contractors, visitors, partners, photographers and anyone acting on behalf of the ministry in person or online.
Expected Conduct
- Treat children with dignity, fairness and respect.
- Maintain safe, visible and appropriate boundaries.
- Avoid being alone with a child where activities cannot be observed.
- Never use sexual, humiliating, violent, discriminatory or threatening language or behaviour.
- Never exchange money, gifts, contact details or private messages in a manner that creates secrecy, dependency or exploitation.
- Never request unnecessary identity, medical or family information.
- Obtain appropriate consent before photography, interviews, transport or public storytelling.
Recruitment and Supervision
Roles involving children should use proportionate identity, reference and suitability checks where practicable. Volunteers must receive safeguarding orientation, understand reporting duties and work under designated supervision.
Reporting a Concern
Any concern, disclosure or suspected abuse must be recorded factually and reported promptly to the responsible safeguarding leader. Do not promise secrecy, investigate beyond your role, confront an alleged offender or delay a report. Immediate danger must be referred to the appropriate emergency or child-protection authority.
Response
The ministry will prioritise safety, confidentiality, non-retaliation and appropriate referral. Access to children may be suspended while concerns are assessed. Records will be restricted to authorised persons.
Online Safety
Private messaging with children, publication of identifying details, live location sharing and unapproved fundraising using a child’s story are prohibited. Official ministry communication channels should be used.
Questions or concerns may be sent to theostransformers@gmail.com. Doruka matters may also be sent to nakasiitajsphn@gmail.com or reported by telephone/WhatsApp on +256 701 497 913.
